Home Care Powered by AUAF was excited to attend Fiesta del Sol during the weekend of July 29 to 31. In 1974, the event initially celebrated the successful campaign of the Pilsen Latinx community, which convinced the Chicago Board of Education to build a new high school. Now, Fiesta del Sol celebrates the coming together of communities through the beauty of Latinx heritage, history, and culture.
Fiesta del Sol today
After 50 years of celebration, what was once a two-block event has expanded to encompass eight blocks down Cermak Road. Attendees enjoy carnival events, delicious cuisine, shopping, and performances that are fun for the whole family. At Home Care Powered by AUAF, playing an active part in the communities we serve is important to us. We enjoyed basking in the culture and had fun hosting a series of giveaways.
On top of that fun, we were thrilled to take to the stage and donate five thousand dollars to three different organizations each. Byron Sigcho-Lopez, Alderman of Chicago’s 25th Ward, introduced us to the community and thanked us for our contributions. Since day one, we have taken pride in our ability to give back to the people we serve. So, it was our privilege to do so for the Pilsen community.
On Friday, we donated to Alivio Medical Center, an organization that brings high-quality medical treatments at a low cost to minorities. A group of representatives from the center accepted the donation. On Saturday, we gave to Benito Juárez Community Academy, the school the Pilsen community fought for in the 1970s. Finally, on Sunday we gave to El Hogar del Niño, which was accepted by the organization’s enrollment coordinator, Leo Ortega.
Home Care in the Chicago area
Over the course of the weekend, our staff took the time to speak with Fiesta del Sol attendees about the work we do for our community. We also educated them on our home care services. In addition, we discussed our family caregiver program. This gives the family the opportunity to receive payment for the care they give to an elderly loved one. No matter who they were, those who visited our booth walked away with more knowledge of home care.
The at-home caregivers with Home Care Powered by AUAF make a world of difference in the well-being of seniors across Chicago. Home care covers all the activities of daily living that grow difficult for older adults, such as personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, and more. They even provide companionship for seniors who may feel isolated. With the assistance of a caregiver, seniors can live in the comfort of their homes for longer.
With our in-home caregivers, seniors experience a higher quality of life. Learn more about how they can positively impact you, or your family, by calling 773-274-9262.
