May was a special month for all of us at Home Care Powered by AUAF. Every year, May is recognized as Older Americans Month. It is a time to honor the strength, contributions, and resilience of older adults. This year, we went all out to celebrate. Home Care AUAF Celebrates Older Americans Month with a joyful community event held on May 16th at the Copernicus Regional Senior Center in Logan Square. Organized by our Spanish PR team – Maria Guevara, Stefany Lugo, and Liz Cortes, the event brought joy, connection, and valuable information to seniors in our community.
A Day of Activities, Smiles, and Connection
Over a 100 local seniors joined us for the day. From the beginning, the energy in the room was full of excitement and warmth. As Home Care AUAF Celebrates Older Americans Month, we knew that offering fun, inclusive activities would make the day both meaningful and memorable.
Participants enjoyed painting flower pots, coloring mandalas, and even joining in on a lively Zumba class. Each activity was designed to support creativity and movement, two things that improve the quality of life for older adults. We also raffled off prizes, which added an extra layer of fun and anticipation for everyone involved.
Of course, no celebration is complete without giving back. Thanks to our sponsors, Goya and El Milagro, we were able to donate pantry food to many of the seniors who attended. This act of kindness supports long-term wellness and helps many family caregivers and seniors meet the requirements for basic daily needs.
Health and Companionship: Our Ongoing Mission
While the day was fun and heartwarming, it also offered real value. As Home Care AUAF Celebrates Older Americans Month, we used this opportunity to speak with seniors about the importance of companionship and mental well-being. Living alone can often lead to isolation, especially in older age.
To help prevent loneliness, we provided information on our home care services. Our team shared how home caregivers can offer daily support to any qualifying parent or loved one. These services are available in English, Assyrian, Arabic, Polish, and other languages to ensure we serve our community fully. For many seniors, having a caregiver for your elderly parent means more than just help – it means connection.
Support for Family and Paid Caregivers
At the event, we also discussed how to become a paid caregiver for a family member through our agency. Many people don’t know that they can be a family caregiver and get compensated for caring for a loved one. By providing information on this option, we help families stay together and receive professional-level care at home.
Home Care Powered by AUAF is deeply committed to supporting both seniors and the people who care for them. Whether you are looking for senior home care, or want to become a caregiver for your elderly parent, we’re here to help you every step of the way.
